PUBLIC SERVICE

The clinical laboratory of the Microbiology department has been providing various laboratory services for diagnosing various bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic diseases with accuracy and minimal turnaround time for quality patient care services.

The laboratory also provides some automated diagnostic systems for identifying and antibiotic susceptibility testing like BacT Alert and VITEK 2 Compact system apart from conventional systems for quality reporting of patient samples.

The laboratory also provides various serological tests such as Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis E, Leptospira, Dengue, Chikungunya, Japanese Encephalitis, etc.

These tests are being done under various government and institutional programs like NACO, IDSP, AMR surveillance, Antibiotic Policy, HICC, VRDL, NVHCP, and SRL IDSP.

The VRDL-LMCH is equipped to perform advanced diagnostic tests for a wide range of viral pathogens such as Hep A, Hep B, Hep C, Hep E, Japanese Encephalitis, Dengue, West Nile, Chikungunya, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Rotavirus, Varicella Zoster, Leptospira, and Scrub Typhus. Recently, Respiratory panel Multiplex PCR and ANA profile have been added to the battery of investigations at VRDL-LMCH.

The Microbiology Laboratory is a regular participant in IAMM-EQAS (External Quality Assurance Scheme) ensuring quality diagnostic patient care services.
